St. Augustine Seafood & Music Festival

Coastal Blue, the NFBA Youth Band, gave their best performance yet at this event! They were on fire - the crowd
loved them. The MC had them do 2 encore songs before letting them leave the stage. Southern Lite and Valerie Smith also gave
great performances at this local event on Sunday, March 9th.
Bluegrass Pick-in

This was a great event! This was the largest turnout in at least the last 4 years - the parking lot was
overflowing with cars. Numerous groups were picking in the parking lot, and then 2 groups inside the building. The food
was fantastic! The Shriners offered a delicious fish fry with baked beans and cole slaw out on the back deck. Fun time
had by all! Pictures will be posted soon.
NFBA Annual Membership Meeting
January 18-19, 2008

The annual meeting and election of officers for 2008 was successfully conducted on Saturday under
somewhat cold and rainy conditions. Congratulations to Toby Vanderbilt, our new president and Ernie Evans, our
new vice president and all the other elected board members! This is going to be a great year for the
NFBA. After elections, when everyone was lining up for the dinner, the power went out. So we had our
first dinner in the dark- but a generator was quickly started up to keep the food warm and provide some
light. After an hour or so without power, the power came back on.

All of the participants in this year's competition really gave it their all - observers and judges
were treated to some outstanding bluegrass music. Congratulations to all the winners. Winners
from this competition will compete in Perry, Florida in April 2008 for a State Sanctioned title.
