President's Message

Don Dean - June 2010
From The Presidents Pen
Greetings to the membership of North Florida Bluegrass Association and a big thanks for your support
in making our monthly event at Wild Frontier Campground the success it was. The support that all the
musicians and singers gave during open stage Friday night, along with, a large audience was
outstanding. On Saturday night two NFBA bands, Still Kickin Bluegrass and The Orange Blossom
Ramblers performed for our listening pleasure. Thanks for the great shows. The campground also hosted
an ice cream social for all present which helped everyone to cool down as well.
At our special meeting on Saturday morning and with a large turn out from the membership you voted
overwhelmingly in support of a By-Law change. The following change is effective as of June 19, 2010.
Article VI Officers and their Election
B. Officers shall be elected annually at a membership meeting in the month of October
C. Officers shall assume their official duties at the first meeting in January following election
Article IX Meetings
A. There shall be an annual meeting of the association in October of each year
I’m happy to announce that our scholarship fund is now over six hundred dollars due to your
generosity. I would encourage all who are eligible to be a recipient to get your application from a board
member and get it back to us so the selection process can began and the presentation can take place at
the EXPO in November.
I regret that our plans for a membership drive in Macclenny Fla. on September 25, 2010 will” not” take
place, as we have been unable to secure the desired location, leaving the board no choice but to vote
not to pursue this any further at this time. Your board members are also very busy as plans are starting
to come together for our EXPO in November. To all of you, again, thanks for your support to your board
members and as we all strive together things can only get better for NFBA and the entire membership.
