The benefit concert for Vic Tauro, the manager of Dixieland Music Park and NFBA bluegrass fan
was a success. Reports indicated the concert raised almost $8000. Vic has had two heart
related incidents within the last few months. THANKS to all the NFBA members who participated in the
organizing and heavy lifting to make this event memorable.
Plans for the "Music In The Schools" free concert on September 15, 2007 at Dixieland Music Park in Waldo
is starting to come together. Ryan Holladay, the young "Skaggs" recording artist and "Grand Ole Opry"
star will be with us again along with a great line up of young bluegrass bands. The concert is FREE to
all and falls on the NFBA third weekend gathering. Ryan has agreed to conduct a workshop for youngsters
who wish to improve their playing skills. He will be accompanied by other youth musicians including
NFBA's Coastal Blue. This is a marvelous opportunity for youngsters interested in learning to play bluegrass
and those who wish to improve performance skills. More on this event as it unfolds.
An all member meeting is scheduled from 10:00-11:00 am, July 21, 2007 at Waldo to get input from those who could
not attend at Hoboken. The ideas and suggestions gathered at these two meetings will help the board develop
more meaningful member programs. If you have anything to offer in the way of constructive comments,
now is the time to present them. The Board of Directors is obligated to plan for our organizational
activities. The more we know of membership interests the better participation is going to be and the more
the NFBA can accomplish.
As always I enjoy visiting with you all at our gatherings and Vic's benefit concert was no exception.
Thank you for your kind words and words of wisdom.
I look forward to seeing more of you -- between the campers.
