At the board of Directors meeting in March a decision was made to hold a mid-season membership
meeting in June, at our monthly pick-in at Hoboken. This action was taken in response to those who wanted an
opportunity to ask about upcoming events, make suggestions regarding new programs and events,
make suggestions regarding new programs and events and discuss future activity for our organization.
It seems that many of our members, long standing and new would like to see the NFBA do more member
oriented activities and pursue more community related projects. This mid-season meeting of the Board will
provide such an opportunity to air these ideas and suggestions and those that are adopted carried out.
I should remind everyone, that your participation may be required to fulfill or improve present and
new programs.
I urge all member to make every effort to attend this meeting. If you really mean what you are saying then be there
to make it happen. If you cannot be there, send an email or letter to me or any other Board member with your
suggestion and how you think it can be accomplished. ALL ideas and suggestions will be considered!
I would like to remind all members that there are many opportunities for jamming, listed in the newsletter.
There is no better way to meet other members and "keep your chops up" than joining other bluegrass musicians at a jam.
The backbone of bluegrass music is the jam. There is no other way I know of where you can learn new bluegrass songs
and try a few on your own in the company of others who are doing the same thing. For new musicians it is a great way
to hear how the music should sound and sharpen your timing. NFBA members have jams going on everywhere, there is one near you.
This is just one of the benefits of belonging to NFBA. Check the listings in your "Midnight Flyer" and start picking!
I look forward to visiting with you all -- between the campers.
